A routine stop for gas turned into a terrifying ordeal for one Marietta, Georgia mother early one morning, when police say a stranger tried to grab her young son right in front of her. The entire encounter was caught on the gas station’s security cameras, and the footage is hard to watch.
It happened just after midnight at a Shell station on Delk Road, reported WSB-TV. The mother had pulled in to fill up with her two kids in the car when a man, later identified by police as Geron Tucker, approached the vehicle. He walked away at first, but then came back and began following her child around the car while she stood right there pumping gas.
At one point, one of the kids scrambled from the back seat into the driver’s seat and climbed out, and Tucker’s attention locked onto him. That’s when the mother made a split-second decision that likely changed the outcome of the entire situation. She grabbed the gas pump and used it to keep Tucker away from her son, buying enough time for the boy to get back safely into the car.
Two bystanders noticed what was happening and stepped in to help keep Tucker away from the family. Someone called police, and Cobb County officers worked with Marietta PD to track Tucker down after he drove off from the scene.

When officers eventually caught up with Tucker, they searched his car and found a THC vape inside. As for why he approached the family in the first place, investigators say that’s still unclear.
