A roadside confrontation involving a Tesla Cybertruck escalated in a matter of seconds after one driver apparently walked up and slapped the electric pickup’s owner. Dashcam footage captured what happened next, including the Cybertruck driver getting out and smashing the other vehicle’s side mirror.
The video was recorded from another vehicle sitting in slow-moving, multi-lane traffic. An older man wearing a pink long-sleeve shirt, shorts, and a baseball cap can be seen approaching the Cybertruck before appearing to strike its driver, although the footage doesn’t establish what happened between the two motorists before that moment.
The Cybertruck driver immediately exits the pickup and approaches the other man, who retreats to his silver crossover and closes the door. After apparently trying unsuccessfully to open it, the Cybertruck owner turns his attention to the vehicle’s side mirror and strikes it hard enough to break the surrounding plastic.
Things remain tense as the silver crossover then moves closer to the rear of the Cybertruck, potentially making contact with it, while the pickup’s driver gestures toward the other motorist. The video ends without showing any further physical confrontation, leaving viewers with plenty of questions about what started the dispute and what happened afterward.

The footage begins after whatever disagreement triggered the incident was already underway, making it impossible to determine from the clip alone who initiated the broader dispute. What the camera does capture is the man approaching the Cybertruck and apparently slapping its driver while both vehicles are stopped in traffic.
The response is immediate. The Cybertruck owner climbs out, and the other driver quickly retreats toward his own vehicle before shutting himself inside.
Rather than ending there, the confrontation continues outside the crossover. The Cybertruck driver appears to attempt to open the door before striking the side mirror, breaking part of its housing as the person recording reacts in disbelief.
Shortly afterward, the crossover moves toward the Cybertruck’s rear bumper as the pickup’s owner points toward its driver. It isn’t clear whether the two vehicles actually make contact, and the available footage ends before showing whether police became involved or either driver faced consequences.
Cybertrucks Have Attracted Plenty Of Unwanted Attention
Whatever motivated this particular confrontation, Tesla’s Cybertruck has become an unusually polarizing vehicle since reaching customers. Its unconventional design was already guaranteed to attract attention, while controversies surrounding Tesla CEO Elon Musk have added a political dimension that has occasionally spilled over into hostility toward owners and their vehicles.
Tesla vehicles, dealerships, and charging infrastructure have been targeted in numerous incidents ranging from relatively minor vandalism to significantly more serious crimes. Federal authorities have previously acknowledged attacks involving Tesla property, although those broader incidents shouldn’t automatically be assumed to have any connection with the altercation shown in this video.
Cybertruck owners have also shared accounts of being confronted, insulted, or targeted while driving and parking their vehicles. Reports have emerged over the years of Cybertrucks being scratched, spat on, given obscene gestures, or otherwise targeted, while some drivers have described aggressive encounters with other motorists.
Some incidents may be motivated by dislike of the truck itself, others by opinions surrounding Tesla or Musk, while ordinary road rage can also be responsible for confrontations that happen to involve a Cybertruck.
None of that excuses retaliation when a confrontation becomes physical or property is damaged. A slap can potentially constitute assault or battery depending on the jurisdiction and circumstances, while intentionally damaging someone’s vehicle can create a separate legal problem of its own.
Nobody Comes Out Looking Particularly Good
The limited footage makes assigning responsibility for the entire incident impossible because viewers don’t see what happened before the confrontation began. Still, the portion caught on camera appears to show one person escalating the situation physically before the other responds by damaging property.
Walking up to another motorist and striking them is a dangerous way to handle any traffic dispute. Getting out and smashing part of the other person’s vehicle only adds another layer to an already volatile encounter.
Road rage has a habit of turning minor disagreements into situations with consequences far greater than whatever originally caused them. The Cybertruck may guarantee plenty of attention wherever it goes, but the vehicle itself might ultimately be incidental to what happened here. Until more context emerges, this looks primarily like another example of how quickly an argument between motorists can spiral once everyone gets out of their vehicles.
