Most people think of their commute as a chance to zone out, listen to a podcast, or plan what’s for dinner. Paul Jackson of Roy, Washington, turned his into something out of an action movie, and he did it with a Kia Forte instead of anything resembling a stunt vehicle.
The incident happened on Interstate 5 near Fife, where a woman driving a white SUV suddenly began weaving across three lanes of traffic. According to Fox 13 Seattle, she was suffering a medical emergency at the wheel, and a young boy was strapped into a child seat in the back. Anyone who has driven that stretch of I-5 knows how quickly a situation like that can turn dangerous for everyone nearby.
Jackson happened to be close enough to see what was unfolding, and instead of hanging back, he decided to get involved. He maneuvered his Forte alongside the SUV, positioned his rear tire against the front of her vehicle, and gradually eased her to a stop. It is not exactly a maneuver taught in driver’s ed, but it worked.
By the time officers and EMTs arrived, Jackson had already helped get the SUV into park and made sure the child was safe. He was, by his own admission, running late to pick up a birthday cake for his wife. Instead he came home with a story that will be hard for anyone to top at future family gatherings.
A Kia Forte as an Unlikely Hero Car
There is something fitting about a compact economy sedan being the vehicle that pulled off a rescue like this. The Forte was never built to be a pursuit car, but Jackson proved that a steady hand behind the wheel matters more than horsepower when things go sideways.
He joked afterward that he tells people the scrapes will “buff out,” which is the kind of dry humor that fits the situation perfectly.

What stands out here is not raw speed or aggressive driving. Jackson described positioning his car carefully and slowing the SUV down without letting things escalate.

Jackson has been humble about the whole thing, saying he simply felt he was in the right place at the right time. Whether or not he considers himself a hero, plenty of people watching the video would disagree.
