A pregnant woman in Jacksonville, Florida, started getting contractions and, moments later, her water broke. Knowing that her son was arriving soon, she and her husband drove to the hospital, but the trip was cut short. She ended up giving birth in the car.
The sudden birth was shared online by Miranda Aldridge. She is now a mother of four and also a popular family-oriented content creator with over 1.4 million followers on TikTok alone.
As part of her content, she had been documenting baby boy Calvin’s pregnancy journey. As such, her prenatal appointments and baby shopping sprees were shared online, setting up expectations for his inevitable arrival.
However, Miranda wasn’t expecting what happened next. On the night of Monday, July 13, she started having contractions, and what followed would become a fast and express car birth.

According to footage shared by Miranda, her contractions lasted about 30 to 40 minutes. Then, at 12:20 a.m., as they were getting ready to go to the hospital, her water broke.
Minutes later, they left for the hospital, which is 40 minutes away from the Florida couple’s house. Miranda’s husband, Brian, ran to get some towels to prevent making a mess in the car, she explained in a follow-up clip.
As soon as Miranda sat in the car, her contractions became stronger. Shortly after leaving, the woman knew that giving birth at the hospital was out of the question.
Calvin Is Born
Brian parked the car and immediately called 911. He had experience delivering Miranda’s babies, but the whole situation was nerve-wracking, as Calvin was about to be born in the dark and on the side of the road.
Miranda got on her hands and knees, and then came a big contraction. Miranda didn’t push, but Calvin’s head came out. Another contraction came, and Miranda pushed once again. Calvin was born at 12:36 a.m., exactly 10 minutes after the couple left their driveway.
“Hey Cal! Hey Buddy!” Brian told Calvin. Moments later, he began crying, and by 12:41 a.m., the newborn was already in Miranda’s arms.
Hospital to Home
First responders arrived and took Miranda and Calvin to the hospital. Brian, now a proud father of four, followed them closely.
The newborn boy was a bit blue and had some bruising due to the nature of his delivery. Fortunately, he was otherwise a very healthy child.
Calvin’s footprints were taken, he got to meet his three siblings, and is now at home with his parents. And while his birth was a bit more chaotic than expected, his arrival is something the now-family of six will never forget.
