We all love a good animal rescue story, especially when it has a happy ending. In Culpeper, Virginia, Master Police Officers E. Sweet and K. Argueta took time out of their busy schedules while patrolling to rescue a small kitten they found in the middle of the road.

Of course, the kitten wasn’t just rescued by some of the kindest officers it could have come across; one of them just so happens to run a cat rescue with his wife. So, they took the kitten in until it is old enough to be adopted.

Talk about a ‘Sweet’ ending to an already great story. Judging by the picture, the little guy really must only be a few weeks old, so it’s great to see that it’s going to be taken care of.

Even the Culpeper Police Department’s Facebook post feels the same, writing, “Master Police Officers E. Sweet and K. Argueta can add Kitten Rescuer to their resumés.”

The Rescue Couldn’t Have Happened to a Better Officer

The Culpeper Police Department shared an incredibly sweet Facebook post featuring Master Officer E. Sweet and the black kitten smiling at the camera. It isn’t clear exactly where the kitten was found, but the post reads as such: “While on patrol today, MPO K. Argueta saw a kitten in the middle of the road.

He stopped and saved it! He searched the area for its mom and any other kittens with no success. MPO E. Sweet and his wife run a cat rescue and are fostering the kitten until it is old enough to be adopted.”

Additional information about the rescue itself was not revealed. It’s just great to know that there’s one more animal taken off the streets who will be adequately cared for.

Facebook Fell in Love With the Department’s Newest ‘Catdet’

Several people even suggested the kitten’s name had already been decided for everyone. One commenter wrote, “Well, you’ve got K9s, now you’ve got an official department feline. I suggest you name her Sweetie ❤️🐈.”

Another person agreed, saying, “Well, her name is forever Sweetie.” Others leaned into the police theme, with Leslie LaVenuta joking that the kitten was the department’s “New K9 recruit 😂☺️,” and Connie Pope offering perhaps the best nickname of the bunch: “Catdet!!”

Judging by the replies, this tiny stray managed to win over hundreds of hearts before it even found a permanent family.
