A teenager in Ventura, California, is facing multiple charges after he allegedly led police on a chase while riding on his e-bike. Authorities said that the pursuit led officers through various streets and even through a local high school.

According to a news release issued by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, the incident occurred on Wednesday, June 10. At the time, the Ventura Police Department (VPD) was conducting an “organized e-bike enforcement operation” at Ventura Community Park.

Reportedly, the police department had received more than 100 calls in 2026 regarding juvenile e-bike and e-motorbike usage in the area. This, of course, is highly unsafe.

As a result, officers were already on active lookout at the park. Even so, one juvenile caught the officers’ attention and would then occupy the rest of their day.

Pursuit Begins

As per the release, the juvenile in question, whose age or name has not been disclosed, was observed riding an e-motorbike on the park grass. As expected, officers acted immediately.

An officer attempted an enforcement stop, to no avail. The VPD said that the juvenile decided to flee the scene northbound on Kimball Road.

“The juvenile is accused of driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Kimball Road while weaving through traffic before riding the wrong way onto the northbound State Route 126 off-ramp,” the news release continued. “The juvenile then allegedly entered the westbound State Route 126 on-ramp and traveled at freeway speeds before exiting at Victoria Avenue.”

High School Campus

According to the authorities, the juvenile would continue driving and failed to stop at the Victoria Avenue off-ramp stop sign. Then, he is accused of driving the wrong way on Victoria Avenue, traveling northbound in southbound lanes.

Eventually, the juvenile entered the Buena High School campus, located at 5670 Telegraph Rd. Officers followed closely and eventually came across the e-motorbike.

It had been in the alley of a nearby neighborhood. The juvenile was nowhere to be found.

Multiple Charges

VPD officers began investigating the incident. However, they were soon met by an adult and a teenager. The man was the teenager’s stepfather, and the boy was the juvenile they had been previously pursuing.

The teenager was cited and released pending juvenile court proceedings, the release detailed. Meanwhile, his e-motorbike was impounded.

A juvenile petition charges the juvenile with two counts of evading a peace officer and evading a peace officer while driving the wrong way, two counts of reckless driving and operating a motorcycle without a valid license, and four infractions:

  • Driving the wrong way on a divided roadway
  • Failing to wear a helmet
  • Operating an unregistered vehicle
  • Driving without insurance

The minor’s arraignment is scheduled for July 20, 2026.
