Two men in Monroe, North Carolina, have been arrested after allegedly burglarizing more than 100 pharmacies across multiple states. As per the police, they were taken into custody after a chase, during which they tossed prescription drugs after their vehicle had its tires deflated.
According to a news release issued by the Monroe Police Department (MPD), the incident occurred on June 18, 2026. At the time, the MPD had been informed of suspects breaking and entering a pharmacy located in Concord, North Carolina.
MPD officers learned that a black BMW was believed to have been involved in the incident. Then, at around 4:15 a.m., an MPD sergeant spotted a vehicle matching the description traveling on Concord Highway, entering Monroe.
The sergeant attempted to conduct an investigative stop. The driver, however, allegedly chose to ignore this and drove away.
Car and Foot Chase
A pursuit followed through Monroe streets. At one point, MPD officers deployed tire deflation devices to put an end to a potentially dangerous or even fatal pursuit.
The devices were successful, as the BMW’s tires were deflated. Shortly after, the vehicle came to a stop. However, things didn’t stop there.
As the vehicle came to a stop, two individuals exited it and chose to flee on foot, the police said. The suspects were later identified as 25-year-old Rashaad Wilson and 26-year-old Wesley.
Discarding Drugs, 100+ Pharmacies Burglarized
As Wilson and Wesley ran from responding police officers, they apparently discarded prescription medications, police said. Investigators believed that these drugs had been previously stolen during the Concord pharmacy break-in.
The MPD then recruited the help of drones and K9 units to find both individuals in the area. Eventually, police located them and placed them under arrest.
During the investigation, the MPD learned that both Wilson and Wesley were allegedly involved in more than 100 pharmacy burglaries. These, as per the MPD, occurred across multiple unspecified states.
Suspects Charged
As reported by the Charlotte Observer, Wilson is charged with fleeing to elude arrest, unsafe passing into oncoming traffic, breaking and/or entering, larceny after breaking and entering, felony conspiracy, and felony possession with intent to distribute Schedule IV narcotics.
Meanwhile, Wesley is charged with felony breaking and/or entering, felony larceny after breaking and/or entering, felony conspiracy, and felony possession with intent to distribute Schedule IV narcotics.
“This arrest highlights the effectiveness of strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies and the use of technology and specialized resources to apprehend dangerous offenders,” the MPD said. “The swift actions of our officers, deputies, K9 teams, and drone operators prevented these suspects from escaping and helped recover stolen prescription medications before they could reach our communities.”
