A woman in South Hill, Washington, thought it was a great idea to approach deputies while investigating a crime scene. Little did she know that agents would allegedly notice the vodka bottle and then the gun inside her vehicle. After fooling around, the woman found out, and she was placed under arrest.
According to a post made by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on June 20. Reportedly, this was the third incident that took place over the Father’s Day weekend in Pierce County.
At around 2:00 a.m., deputies were at the 5700 block of 161ST St Ct. e on South Hill. Reportedly, they were investigating a commercial burglary.
However, at one point, a vehicle pulled up to the LCSO deputies at the scene. The deputies didn’t know it at the time, but they were about to find themselves in the middle of a DUI incident.
A Vodka Bottle and a Gun
Deputies noticed the pulled-up vehicle and the woman behind the wheel, only identified as a 28-year-old. Agents tried to investigate whether the lady was related to the burglary they were already investigating.
She was not. Instead, deputies talked with the woman for a while, and then, out of the corner of their eye, a deputy spotted something unusual and very illegal.
Allegedly, the woman had stored a bottle of Vodka in the center console. Not only that, but after the woman opened the center console, the deputy spotted a gun, the LCSO said.
Footage Shows Odd Interaction
A deep dive into one deputy’s bodycam footage showed the odd interaction with the suspect. From the get-go, as shown in the clip attached above, the female driver is shown slurring her words, saying that her mother was the owner of a restaurant and that she was “trying to find my niece.”
After the deputy turned on her flashlight, she immediately spotted the bottle in the center console. Footage shows the woman allegedly admitting to it being a Vodka bottle.
“Why are we driving around with an open container?” the deputy asked. The woman responded, “No, I’m not. I’m not. I’m trying to find my niece and go home.”
After the gun was spotted, the deputy told the woman to keep her hands on the wheel. She was later pulled from her vehicle, and when asked how much alcohol she had drunk, she allegedly answered, “Probably a few more than a couple of shots.”
Arrested and Charged
As a result, the LCSO deputies found themselves in a DUI investigation. Swiftly, the 28-year-old woman was arrested.
She is charged with driving under the influence and obstruction. It is unclear if this was the woman’s first DUI offense, so, at the very minimum, she faced up to 48 hours of consecutive incarceration and up to a year of license suspension.
However, the woman was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm. As per the LCSO, she is also a convicted felon.
Why a convicted felon with a vodka bottle in the center console and an illegal gun approached deputies already investigating a crime was heavily debated in the comments. The consensus? One viewer said, “They’re not always the sharpest knife in the drawer.”

unlawful possession of firearm? 2nd amendment says, shall not be infringed! she is completely in her right to have one!
The article states she is a convicted fellon and as such may not own a firearm.
Ah, Pierce County, Washington… Hillbilly Dogpatch of the Northwest! 🤣
