“You Can’t Have Nothing Nice in the Bronx”: NYC Man Gets Honda’s Sensor Stolen a Day After Buying Car, Thief Allegedly Offers To Return It Before Ghosting Him

A man in The Bronx, New York City, was devastated to learn that his brand-new Honda had been the target of thieves. Apparently, they took its sensor away, leaving the man with a potentially expensive replacement bill. However, the alleged thief apparently contacted him to return it, but would later ghost the man, exponentially adding to his frustration.

The borderline tragic story was shared on TikTok by Joel Deleon. His very first clip on his Honda sensor theft series, which has been seen by over three million people,

Joel filmed his dashboard and how it showed a warning. It read, “Auto high-beam problem. Manual controls available. See your dealer.”

The warning had a very simple explanation: the Honda’s sensor was gone. Joel knew this and reacted accordingly, saying, “There’s no way, bro.”

Sensor Gone

Joel exited his car and, with a plethora of “Bros,” he finally showed the damage. His Honda’s sensor was nowhere to be found, and all that was left was the empty socket.

“I just got the car, bro. There’s no [expletive] way, bro. […] You can’t have nothing nice in The Bronx, bro,” the NYC man said.

Back inside his vehicle, Joel explained that he had parked his brand-new car at around 3 a.m. A few hours later, the sensor was gone, and the worst part is that, according to him, he had ordered a sensor protector, which was supposed to arrive later in the day. Of course, there is no longer any sensor to protect.

In a first follow-up, Joel revealed that someone had contacted him directly. Apparently, a man, whom he called a “nice guy,” had identified himself as the sensor thief and was willing to give it back.

“YOOOOOOO I think I might took your sensor bro I ain’t know it was you twin,” a first message read. Joel was suspicious at first, but once the individual provided not only his car’s correct parking address and a photo of the sensor and the Honda’s emblem, he knew the man meant business.

Joel was willing to pay the man back for his sensor. After all, getting a new one would set him back a couple of thousand dollars. Still, he feared that the alleged thief might just be “trolling” him.

Joel Is Ghosted

@joeltheleon This might be the final update on this 😢 #joeltheleon #nyc #honda #rental #stolen ♬ original sound – Joel Deleon

In the end, it appeared that that was exactly the case, as shown in a second and last update. Joel and the man, who appears to go by Tato, kept on talking about the sensor, with the latter apparently asking for a bit of money in return.

The Honda owner kept insisting on meeting up with the alleged thief. He would get early morning messages at 12 a.m. and 2 a.m. from Tato saying, “Don’t worry, I got you.”

In the end, he ended up calling Tato multiple times, to no response. The man, who probably never had the sensor in the first place, had ghosted him.

Joel, meanwhile, did receive the protector he mentioned earlier. Not sure if that was going to do the job, he said that he might do some “ghetto attachments” to secure his future sensor replacement.
