A woman in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, unfortunately, had her vehicle stolen. While she began posting on social media in the search for tips, she then received a Facebook message. Allegedly, the thief contacted her, taunted her, and demanded money to give her car back.
As reported by TMJ4, the woman in question is Melinna Posey. She is the owner of a 2018 Dodge Durango SRT, which was stolen from her apartment complex on Sunday, June 14.
Finding out that her vehicle was gone was very upsetting, to say the least. After all, she uses the Durango to go to work and to visit the grocery store during the day. Most importantly, she also uses it to pick her daughter up.
Therefore, Melinna decided to take matters into her own hands. She took to social media in the hopes of finding someone who had seen her vehicle. And, to her shock, she found exactly that, but not in the way she expected.
Facebook Messages
Melinna began asking for tips regarding his stolen vehicle. Eventually, she received a message from a Facebook account named Badbacking Allday.
“Got information on the car,” the first message read. “Text me back asap.” Then, Melinna wrote, “What’s up.”
Next, she received a photo of an individual driving her Durango. The vehicle was confirmed to be hers after she also received pictures of the Durango’s license plate.
Asking for Money
The interaction between the vehicle owner and the alleged vehicle thief then veered toward money. The one accused of having the vehicle began demanding money, around $400.
After more evidence was shared with Melinna, her texts showed that she was willing to set up a meetup. The alleged thief, meanwhile, insisted on the money, offering a CashApp transfer or even digital gift cards.
However, without any guarantees, the woman wasn’t going to send a single penny. She demanded to see the car in person first, but the individual behind “Badbacking Allday” was worried that she would come with the police.
Taunting
Probably thinking the conversation was going nowhere and that no payment was ever going to be made, the alleged thief began taunting Melinna. How? By getting rid of her personal items.
Melinna was heartbroken to see many of her items being discarded. These included a car seat, a stroller wagon, cameras, and photos.
Currently, the Oak Creek Police Department is investigating the incident. Meanwhile, Melinna, who shared this story with the outlet to raise awareness that such things can happen, has set up a GoFundMe to raise funds to eventually replace her car and other personal items lost.
