A man in Las Vegas, Nevada, is facing multiple charges after he allegedly rammed into a state trooper, pinning him down and causing a fatal shooting as a result. He is also accused of admitting to snorting methamphetamine right after the crash.

As reported by KLAS, the incident occurred on Wednesday, June 10. At the time, Nevada State Police (NSP) troopers were investigating a crash near the 4th Street on-ramp on Interstate 11/U.S. 95.

At the time, authorities had two lanes blocked due to the crash. Still, a Toyota 4Runner, unrelated to the incident, arrived at the scene while driving recklessly, the police alleged.

As a result, a trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Even though the patrol unit’s lights were activated and the trooper honked his horn, the driver behind the Toyoita, later identified as Sean Shirazi, allegedly refused to stop and accelerated.

Traffic Stop Attempts

As the Toyota drove away, troopers observed the vehicle lightly strike the side of a semi-truck on Nevada streets. Shirazi, however, continued driving without stopping to check on the other vehicle, police said.

Eventually, Shirazi stopped on his tracks. He had approached a trooper and a fire engine, and a trooper had pulled out his firearm and pointed it at Shirazi, telling him to stand down.

The sudden stop didn’t last long. After rolling down the window of his Toyota, as instructed by a trooper, Shirazi rolled it back up and then allegedly accelerated, hitting and pinning down a trooper who was attempting to put an end to the incident.

Ramming Results in Shooting

The pinned-down trooper proceeded to fire five shots directed at Shirazi’s car. An arrest report detailed that Shirazi still drove forward, striking a Kia on its way and pushing it for approximately 60 feet.

One more round was fired by the trooper before he entered his unit and continued the pursuit. However, he was unable to, and Shirazi, at least momentarily, eluded the police, the report said.

Some time later, at around 2:40 p.m., local police responded to Dignity Health Hospital, located on Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard. They had been informed that two patients had suffered gunshot wounds, apparently caused by the police.

Woman’s Death, Meth Admission

Officers found Shirazi at the location. He was then transported to a local hospital to treat a single gunshot wound.

Unfortunately, officers learned that there was a woman passenger inside Shirazi’s Toyota at the time of the shooting. She had been struck by a bullet in her rib cage area, and was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after arriving.

Allegedly, Shirazi told officers that he had picked up the woman on the streets after he found her beautiful and she agreed to “smoke a bowl” with him. He said he panicked after seeing police officers on the road, blaming his sister for what he described as false allegations against him, resulting in active warrants.

In an attempt to avoid prison, he drove his car the way he did, police said. Then, he allegedly admitted to snorting “a little methamphetamine” right before the series of events described above.

Charges

Shirazi is facing multiple charges. These include involuntary manslaughter, battery with the use of a deadly weapon, resisting a public officer with a deadly weapon, disregarding the safety of a person or property resulting in death or substantial bodily harm, and failure to render aid at a vehicle accident, among many others.

The trooper involved in the ramming did not suffer serious injuries and has been placed on paid administrative leave, pending an investigation. Shirazi’s will appear in court on Tuesday, June 16.

No mugshot has been made public.
