A driver in Woodbridge, Virginia, is facing multiple charges after allegedly crashing into a patrol car. At the time, according to the police, officers were conducting a separate DUI stop and arrest, which was suddenly interrupted by the collision.
According to a post made by the Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD), the incident occurred in early June 2026. An officer had conducted a traffic stop and was to carry out a DUI arrest on PWC Parkway and Golansky Boulevard.
Shortly after, two PWCPD officers arrived at the scene to assist the arresting officer. They managed to leave their vehicle and join their colleague during the DUI stop.
Suddenly, another driver, described as “impaired,” arrived at the scene in a red minivan. This individual then struck one of the cruisers at the scene, causing it to collide with the other cruiser.
A DUI Within A DUI
Fortunately for the officers and the suspect involved, none of them was struck by any vehicle involved. The second alleged drunk driver, however, was placed under arrest.
This individual, whose identity was not disclosed, was charged with driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license. The crash caused $10,000 in damages, and one of the cruisers was a total loss.
“Folks, don’t drive impaired. It’s dangerous, it’s expensive, and your vehicle does not want to meet our cruisers this way,” the PWCPD said.
Reactions
More than a hundred users, mostly Woodbridge and Prince William County residents, reacted to the incident. Some were legitimately worried about the crash’s circumstances, theorizing that a cyclist on the receiving end would have lost their life.
“Please pay attention to actually driving your vehicle so these things don’t keep happening,” one viewer said. Another commented, “The bad decisions of others can end lives. Irresponsible people don’t deserve to be out driving.”
Others, potentially fueled by the lack of injuries, reacted to the news in a more sarcastic tone. Some even pointed out that the vehicle had temp tags.
Similar Incident
Meanwhile, in El Paso, Texas, approximately a week before the incident described above, another driver allegedly crashed into a patrol car while agents were at work. At the time, as per KTSM, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies were conducting traffic control after a motorcycle hit-and-run crash.
The driver, identified as 53-year-old Amando Vasquez Burrola, is accused of driving past a closure on Montabna Avenue and Krag Street. As per the EPCSO, the man crashed into a patrol unit, narrowly missing a standing deputy nearby.
Burrola is charged with driving while intoxicated with an open alcohol container and possession of marijuana under two ounces. He was then booked into the El Paso County Jail, and his bond was set at $10,100.
