A woman in Houston, Texas, survived a stabbing attack and kidnapping attempt allegedly committed by a 46-year-old man outside a medical center. She made everything possible to get help and escape, including honking her horn and opening one of her vehicle doors with her toes.

According to the Houston Police Department, the incident occurred on Monday, May 11. The woman, a Houston Methodist Research Institute employee, was on the fifth floor of a nearby garage located on 6519 Fannin Street, 12 News Now reported.

Allegedly, 46-year-old Perry Green, armed with a kitchen knife, approached the woman and forced her into her own vehicle.

The woman screamed for help. She, however, was ready to fight back.

Fighting Attacker, Stabbed

Once inside the car, the woman started to kick Green while her screaming continued. Prosecutors alleged that Green entered the driver’s seat and stabbed her seven times in the chest, telling her he would kill her if she refused to remain quiet.

Even though she suffered the aforementioned stabs and even more lacerations throughout her body, the woman didn’t stop fighting back. Prosecutors detailed that she even went as far as slamming her own head against her car’s horn to draw attention to herself and the alleged attack.

Escaping With Her Toes

The frantic struggle continued as the woman was fighting for her life.

“The defendant stopped choking the complainant once she reached towards the passenger door handle,” the prosecutor said. “Complainant managed to wrap her legs around the defendant’s legs while attempting to disarm him.”

After getting her hands zip-tied, the woman managed to use her toes to open the passenger-side door. She immediately exited her vehicle and came across a bystander. Medical center staff members rendered first aid, some of them even having witnessed the horrifying moment themselves.

She was transported to a nearby emergency room. Fortunately, she was later released from the hospital shortly after.

Convicted Felon Arrested, Facing Serious Charges

Meanwhile, the man allegedly grabbed the woman’s backpack and fled the scene. The Houston Police Department would locate and arrest the man two days later, on May 13, aided by Houston Metro Police.

Perry Green is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated kidnapping. He is being held without bond as he has an extensive criminal history, which includes burglary and drug possession arrests. Records reviewed by 12 News Now showed that he served 15 of a 24-year sentence for a past aggravated robbery conviction.

If convicted, Green could spend the rest of his life behind bars.
