A Monday morning commute on Interstate 41 near Appleton got a lot more dramatic than anyone bargained for when a semi truck blew a tire, plowed into a construction barrier, and promptly caught fire. Because apparently, if you are going to have a bad day, you might as well commit to it.
The incident unfolded around 7:10 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-41, just south of Highway 15. The tire blowout sent the rig into the construction barrier lining the roadway, and what started as a bad Monday quickly escalated into a really bad Monday. Flames spread from the tractor to the trailer faster than most of us can find our travel mug on the way out the door.
The good news? The driver managed to exit the truck safely before things got truly out of hand. Which, for all the car guys out there who have ever thought, “She’ll be fine, I’ll check the tires later” — let this be your sign to maybe not do that.
Crews Pulled Out All the Stops to Battle the Blaze

When Grand Chute Fire Department personnel arrived on scene, the tractor was fully engulfed. Flames had already entered the trailer, prompting firefighters to call in additional resources, both for extra manpower and to ensure a sufficient water supply. Multiple handlines were deployed to get the fire under control, and crews stayed on scene for overhaul operations to ensure the blaze was fully knocked down before clearing the scene.
Northbound lanes on I-41 stayed closed for several hours after the crash. Drivers were rerouted through Wisconsin Avenue while fire suppression, overhaul, and roadway cleanup operations wrapped up. Nobody enjoys an unplanned detour before 8 a.m., but given the alternative, most commuters probably made their peace with it.
No injuries were reported. Unfortunately, the truck did not fare as well.

Love how you wrote this. Very entertaining.
