A devastating crash in Indiana has got people across states talking about immigration enforcement, commercial driver licensing, and the safety standards governing the trucking industry.

The tragedy centers on 64-year-old Terry Schultz, who was killed after a semi-truck allegedly ran a red light and slammed into his vehicle.

According to the account shared on Fox News, the driver behind the wheel of the tractor trailer was identified as Singh Sukdeep, a man described as having entered the United States illegally from India in 2018. The segment reports that he had been caught and released at the border that year.

A witness to the crash described Terry’s final moments in heartbreaking detail. She said she stayed with him, speaking calmly in an effort to comfort him as first responders worked.

Though he was reportedly unresponsive, she believes she was there when he took his last breath. The emotional testimony underscored the human toll behind what has become a deeply politicized issue.

Licensing and Federal Oversight

The broadcast, hosted by Sean Hannity, widened the focus beyond the Indiana crash. Citing a recent report, the program claimed that 20 percent of commercial driver’s licenses issued to noncitizens in Illinois were granted improperly.

That allegation has drawn scrutiny toward Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker and prompted intervention from U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, who warned the state to address compliance failures or risk losing federal funding.

The segment framed the issue as one of public safety rather than partisan politics. Still, the rhetoric was sharp, with criticism directed at Democratic leaders and border policies during the Trump administration. The crash was presented as part of a broader pattern, with the host asserting that fatal accidents involving undocumented drivers are becoming alarmingly frequent.

A Family’s Nightmare

To illustrate the personal consequences of such crashes, the program featured Marcus Coleman, a former truck driver and father of seven-year-old Delilah. In June 2024, Delilah was severely injured in a multi vehicle collision in California involving an 18-wheeler.

Marcus said the truck driver in that crash was an undocumented immigrant who had obtained a commercial driver’s license in the state.

Delilah was airlifted from the scene. The injuries she sustained were life altering. According to her father, she suffered a traumatic brain injury and now lives with diplegic cerebral palsy. She is nonverbal and relies on a feeding tube.

Though she has made significant progress in rehabilitation and is learning to walk again, her cognitive development has been profoundly affected. Marcus described her current mental capacity as comparable to that of a toddler.

The emotional weight of his testimony was unmistakable. He spoke about the dreams his daughter once had, including gymnastics and wrestling, ambitions that are now out of reach. He described attending a recent school dance where she felt embarrassed and hesitant to participate.

To encourage her, he knelt beside her on the dance floor so they could share a moment together, just the two of them.

A Father’s Warning

Beyond his family’s ordeal, Marcus addressed what he sees as systemic problems within the trucking industry. He rejected the notion of a driver shortage, arguing instead that wage suppression and cost cutting have pushed experienced American drivers out of the field.

According to him, companies seeking cheaper labor create unsafe conditions that ultimately endanger lives.

The broadcast concluded with a call for stricter enforcement of licensing standards and immigration laws, asserting that public officials must prioritize roadway safety.

As the debate intensifies, the stories of Terry Schultz and young Delilah Coleman remain at the center of a complex and emotional national conversation about accountability, regulation, and who should be entrusted with operating the largest vehicles on America’s highways.
