Imagine evading California Highway Patrol vehicles while driving at 120 mph before crashing into a Mercedes and ending up on an active railroad, only to explain to the police later that you were late for work.
This actually happened last weekend when CHP Redwood City officers clocked a red Ford Mustang doing 120 mph and pursued it. Despite calling off the pursuit in between, the Mustang driver ended up where he should not have.
While employment pressures are real, surely no job is worth destroying a nice red Mustang over, if one were to take his excuse at face value.
Or perhaps he should have just pulled over instead of crashing out, even after the pursuit was called off. The images of the Mustang ended up on social media, turning it into an episode of embarrassment, made worse by the excuse he offered the police.
CHP Redwood City Posts Incident on Social Media With ‘Can’t Park There’ Hashtag

CHP Redwood City posted images of the crash on their Instagram account, which received more than 700 likes in just six hours.
The post revealed that the red Mustang was passing on the shoulder in traffic at triple-digit speeds and attempted to evade the police by exiting the freeway multiple times.
Considering how dangerous this was for innocent motorists who had no clue about a fast Mustang running away from the police, the officers gave up the pursuit.
The driver of the red Mustang then got back onto the freeway, only to travel at illegal speeds again. However, in an attempt to escape from the police, he exited the freeway at speeds the muscle car was just not able to handle.
The driver lost control and crashed his Mustang into a white Mercedes. Unfortunately, both cars were then pushed onto the active railroad nearby.
Police revealed that the Mercedes driver sustained minor injuries, while the driver of the Mustang was arrested. CHP Redwood City’s post read:
“Over the weekend, one of our CHP Redwood City officers clocked a red Ford Mustang traveling at 120 mph and passing on the shoulder in traffic. The driver of the Mustang attempted to evade our officers, and exited the freeway onto city streets a few times. Our officers decided to call off the pursuit because the risk to the safety of the public was too great. The driver of the Mustang got back onto the freeway and immediately began driving at reckless speeds again. While trying to get away, the driver of the Mustang exited the freeway at too high a speed, lost control and struck another vehicle, pushing them both onto an active railroad track. Luckily the driver of the other vehicle sustained only minor injuries. The driver of the Mustang was arrested and booked into jail.
“His excuse for driving recklessly and evading officers? He was running late for work.
