Most of us probably think of fast, green superbikes whenever Kawasaki is mentioned, but the Japanese corporation has now introduced a new type of machine we might be able to swing a leg over in the future.
Unveiled on April 5 at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kawasaki’s new concept vehicle — the CORLEO — is a hydrogen-powered, four-legged robotic ride designed for the adventurous soul. Kawasaki calls it a ‘future sensory off-road personal mobility machine,’ and yes, it looks like a robot horse.

The theme for the Expo 2025 is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” and the website states “Dancing. Jumping. Bouncing. That’s why we’re alive. The new science and technology will make your heart dance.” It’s safe to say Kawasaki took that to heart.
The Kawasaki Group has both robotics and motorcycle divisions, and the CORLEO combines the two in a wonderfully weird hydrogen-powered four-legged robot that can transport people.
At the venue, the CORLEO is shown in various poses, with a video playing in the background showing it being ridden, running, climbing, and jumping, much like a horse would, offering four-legged mobility, stability, and tons of fun.
It may look like a horse, but it moves more like a big cat — graceful, agile, and eerily lifelike. No complaints here, though.
According to Min Choi on X, the CORLEO also has “navigation and nighttime support that shows fuel, path, balance, and lights up trails at night for safer rides.” He also mentions that riders can steer it “by shifting weight using the adjustable stirrups to keep your posture balanced.”

For now, the Kawasaki CORLEO is nothing more than a concept, but the groundbreaking vehicle, or something like it, may become reality at some point.
On LinkedIn, Kawasaki Heavy Industries wrote that the CORLEO is a concept model for 2050. It’s not clear whether they say it’ll actually be a reality in 2050, but it’s most likely just their vision of how humans will get around in the future.
It’s important to keep in mind that Japanese companies have spent decades building cool robots — like Honda’s ASIMO — but most of them turn into vaporware and never get past the concept stage, so we should take the CORLEO with a grain of salt. After all, right now, it’s just a showpiece accompanied by a CGI video.
Judging by the reactions on the internet, however, there definitely seems to be a market for a sci-fi creation such as this… unless we listen to those who tell us humanity is doomed.
