School buses are supposed to be one of the safest ways for students to get to and from school, but that becomes much harder when the driver isn’t behind the wheel. A concerning incident at Northwest Rankin High School in Mississippi has raised questions about student behavior and supervision after a school bus apparently went off-road while students were still aboard.

TikTok creator Jenn (@jenncruiseconfessions) shared footage of the incident, which she says occurred on November 6, 2026, at Northwest Rankin High School in Rankin County. According to the account she received, the bus driver wasn’t aboard when students began messing around, which led to the bus unexpectedly moving off the roadway.

The situation appears to have escalated when someone reportedly shifted the bus into drive, causing it to travel across an area where it wasn’t supposed to be. Although the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, the footage has prompted concerns about what could have happened if someone had been standing in the vehicle’s path.

Jenn didn’t hide her frustration with the situation, particularly because she previously had children attending schools within the Rankin County School District. “Y’all have no idea how happy I am that I don’t have kids in RCSD anymore,” she wrote, expressing relief that her family no longer has to deal with the district.

Students Go on Quite the Bus Trip

Embedded TikTok video follows; please give it a moment to load completely.

The video is taken from the point of view of someone watching the incident from afar, capturing as the school bus drives through an empty field. It even looks as though some students aboard didn’t want to be a part of the chaos.

You can see one student on the floor, with another rushing to help them stand up. In the distance, you can see another person walking away from the bus, likely another student who didn’t want to be aboard anymore.

The following clip then shows the bus from a different angle, though it appears to be either stopped or stuck. There is also a truck headed toward the bus, likely to assist with getting it to stop and making sure the students aboard are safe.

Comments and Reactions to Mississippi School Bus Incident

Much of the discussion centered on why the bus was apparently left unattended with students aboard, especially if the vehicle was still running or its keys were accessible. “Why was it cranked, or even the keys in the ignition without the driver on the bus?” one commenter asked, while another, identifying themselves as a school bus driver, explained, “As a school bus driver, we are never allowed to leave the bus with kids on unless we get permission, and if we do, we secure the bus!”

Other viewers were more concerned about the students’ behavior, particularly after commenters suggested that a girl might have been responsible for shifting the bus into drive. “‘Some girl put in drive.’ That girl is in trouble,” one person wrote, while another added, “Some of these kids are out of control!!!”

Of course, some viewers couldn’t resist finding humor in the unusual situation, even with the potential danger involved. “‘Who’s driving this bus-uh,'” one commenter joked, while another added, “It’s ok, everyone. They’re just on a field trip 😂,” turning a potentially serious school transportation incident into an unexpected source of jokes.
