Florida Woman Says Officer Is “Affecting My Entire Aura” Before DUI Arrest

Bodycam footage posted on October 28 brings a September crash in Boynton Beach, Florida, back into view. A woman argued with police through much of a DUI check. She asked for a witness and challenged the way an officer gave the tests.

The video, shared by Body Cam USA, follows Boynton Beach police as they sort out what happened. A BMW driver said the woman ran a red light in a Toyota. After the cars hit, she kept going, he said.

By the time police reached the parking area, the Toyota had crashed near a tree and fence. The woman blamed the BMW driver, telling an officer he had run her off the road.

She said she had one glass of wine earlier that evening. An officer began checking whether she could safely drive. She insisted the tests were a setup and that police would say she failed.

The BMW driver told police he was heading west when his light turned green. He braked as the Toyota crossed his path but struck its driver’s side. When she drove on, he followed her into the lot.

Another witness said he saw the Toyota run the red light. He heard the crash, too. He knew the BMW driver and called him before turning around to come back.

The woman said the Toyota was her mother’s car. An officer called for fire rescue to check a small cut on her nose. She later said she was fine and did not want to go to the hospital.

On Her Terms

Before starting the tests, she wanted a friend there to watch. An officer said their cameras were on. She still wanted someone she trusted at the scene.

She began the tests, which included following a pen with her eyes and walking heel to toe. She often questioned the steps or objected to the officer’s tone. She later asked for someone else to give the tests.

As the officer explained how to stand on one leg, she objected to being rushed. “You are affecting my entire aura right now,” she said.

Another officer read a warning about refusing the tests. She denied refusing and tried more tasks. After a test in which she touched her nose as told, an officer arrested her for DUI.

The Next Morning

On the ride to jail, she threatened to take legal action. She also kept asking to set up care for her pet, whom she called her son. Earlier, she had said her “furry baby” had just had surgery.

Body Cam USA says she refused a breath test at the county jail. The channel lists three booking charges: DUI causing property damage, refusal to submit to DUI testing, and refusal to sign a traffic citation. It says she was released the next day on $5,000 bond. Its case update adds a charge of leaving a crash involving property damage, with not guilty pleas on the first three counts.

The defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
