Three vehicles carrying about a dozen suspects drove through a gate at a downtown Los Angeles cannabis business early Tuesday, MyNewsLA reported, citing LAPD. One vehicle’s attempt to leave led officers into a pursuit that ended near Central Avenue and 49th Street.
Officers responded around 1 a.m. on October 27 to the 600 block of Imperial Street, near Sixth Street. KTLA’s broadcast described masked suspects driving vehicles into a building housing a marijuana grow operation.
A security guard hid inside as the burglary unfolded, ABC7 reported in its account of the LAPD response. After officers arrived, they chased a car for about five minutes.
Police arrested three burglary suspects after the pursuit. Police were also investigating another cannabis business nearby, where they found evidence of a second break-in.

Officers did not find suspects at the Mateo Street location, where a glass door had been shattered. Police believed the two burglaries could be connected.
MyNewsLA placed the follow-up investigation around 2:40 a.m. in the 600 block of Mateo Street, citing LAPD Officer Jeff Miller. The front window of the Sweet Flower dispensary had been smashed. Whether the two break-ins were related had not been confirmed in that report.
Behind the Wheel
In a separate August 22, 2024 case, ABC7 documented a white pickup backing into a Chatsworth smoke shop on Devonshire Street around 1:30 a.m. The impact mangled its metal security gate and shattered a floor-to-ceiling window. About a dozen suspects wearing hooded sweatshirts, beanies, and face masks looted the small business before leaving in an SUV.
Later that morning, a white SUV struck the Swish cannabis dispensary in North Hollywood. Officers responded around 3:30 a.m. to the business on Burbank Boulevard. Five suspects fled in a different vehicle, leaving the SUV at the dispensary, and were last seen heading west on Burbank Boulevard. The white SUV resembled the getaway vehicle from the Chatsworth burglary, but it was unclear whether the same group was responsible for both 2024 break-ins.
In Tuesday’s Imperial and Mateo Street cases, MyNewsLA reported that it was not immediately clear what was taken from either business. All parties are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
