720 HP Wasn’t Enough, So This Ford Raptor R Went Straight To The Tuner

Most people buying a brand-new Ford F-150 Raptor R would probably spend some time enjoying its factory performance before considering modifications. After all, a supercharged V8 producing 720 horsepower is hardly lacking in muscle.

One owner, however, had other plans for his 2026 Raptor R. Rather than taking delivery and driving it home, he arranged for the dealership to send the truck straight to Texas-based tuning specialist Late Model Racecraft (LMR).

The pickup had just 30 miles on its odometer when it arrived at the workshop. Its owner wanted a substantial increase in power without sacrificing the everyday drivability that makes the Raptor R surprisingly usable.

LMR answered with its 1,000-horsepower performance package, transforming the already ridiculous pickup into something even wilder. The results were documented in a video on the company’s YouTube channel, complete with dyno figures and a demonstration of its newfound performance.

From 720 To 1,000 Horsepower

The Raptor R’s factory 5.2-liter supercharged V8 produces 720 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque. Before making any modifications, LMR measured 547 horsepower at the rear wheels on its dynamometer.

The biggest upgrade involved replacing the factory 2.65-liter supercharger with a much larger 3.8-liter Whipple twin-screw unit. The team also installed a 132mm throttle body and an upgraded S&B cold-air intake to help the engine breathe.

Cooling received attention as well, with an additional intercooler pump installed to help control intake temperatures. Interestingly, the truck kept its factory exhaust manifolds, catalytic converters, and exhaust system.

An Extra 250 Horsepower At The Wheels

Following the upgrades, the Raptor R produced 797 horsepower at the rear wheels, a gain of 250 horsepower over its original dyno result of 547. LMR estimates the modified engine produces approximately 1,000 horsepower at the crankshaft.

The tuning company also emphasized that the setup was designed to run on premium pump gasoline rather than specialized racing fuel. Its goal was to deliver much stronger acceleration while maintaining factory-like road manners.

Plenty Of Power To Roast The Tires

During the road demonstration, the modified Raptor R launched with impressive traction in its automatic four-wheel-drive setting. Switching to two-wheel drive told a different story, with the truck easily spinning its rear tires under acceleration.

Despite the dramatic power increase, the pickup still has its original exhaust note, accompanied by a noticeably louder supercharger whine. That combination should appeal to owners who prefer a relatively understated appearance and sound.

LMR hasn’t disclosed the price of the conversion, and such extensive engine modifications could affect factory warranty coverage. With 1,000 horsepower on tap, this Raptor R should have no trouble reminding its owner why 720 horsepower apparently wasn’t enough in the first place.
