A visitor died and four others were injured in an incident involving the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia on October 12, 2026, WSB-TV reported.

The coaster stopped with riders aboard, who were evacuated four at a time. The station’s helicopter captured the evacuation as a train remained high on the track.

The incident happened shortly before 4 p.m., according to a Cobb County Police Department statement reproduced by ABC News. Officers assigned to the park and uniformed patrol officers responded to the scene, and detectives from the department’s Major Crimes Unit were responding to examine the circumstances.

The park, west of Atlanta, advertises Goliath as a 200-foot-tall hypercoaster reaching 70 mph. Introduced in 2006, it carries riders through steep drops, a spiral, and a series of hills.

A park visitor waiting to board the nearby Georgia Scorcher described watching a Goliath train pass before seeing someone fall, in an interview with FOX 5 Atlanta.

“I just see somebody fly out and just fly into the woods,” she said.

She estimated that she was about 150 feet away and could not determine whether the person was a child or an adult. She had ridden Goliath earlier that day.

Another visitor interviewed by the station described people running toward the wooded area, but said she had not seen anyone fall herself.

At the Park

In a statement reproduced by WSB-TV, Six Flags expressed condolences to the visitor’s family, friends, and loved ones and said it was providing support to affected guests and employees.

“We are deeply saddened by the guest incident at our park today,” Six Flags said in the statement.

The company said “the park team and local authorities responded immediately” and that it was cooperating with the investigation. It would not share additional details at that time out of respect for the family’s privacy.

As of Monday evening, officials had not confirmed how the person died or what caused the other injuries, the Associated Press reported.
