If you’ve been considering a Volkswagen ID.4 but couldn’t quite justify the price, leftover inventory might change the equation, as Volkswagen is now offering one of its biggest discounts on the electric SUV yet.
As reported by Kelley Blue Book, the automaker is advertising a customer bonus worth up to $12,500 on new 2025 ID.4 models. The offer can be applied toward a purchase or lease through participating Volkswagen dealers.
There is, predictably, a catch. Volkswagen describes remaining 2025 inventory as “very limited,” so finding the right configuration could prove difficult.
Still, $12,500 is a substantial chunk of money to knock off a new EV. The offer runs through November 2, 2026, giving buyers a little over a month to track one down.
The 2026 ID.4 Gets A Discount Too
Buyers who can’t find a leftover 2025 aren’t completely out of luck, because Volkswagen is also offering a $6,000 customer bonus on 2026 ID.4 models, although inventory for those is described as limited as well.
One notable difference between the model years involves charging. The 2026 ID.4 adopts the North American Charging System connector, while 2025 models use a CCS port.
Adapters can expand access to different charging connectors, however, so buyers will have to decide whether the newer port is worth giving up an additional $6,500 in incentives. Offer availability and eligibility can vary, and Volkswagen’s promotion applies through participating dealers.
The ID.4 Is Leaving Chattanooga
The incentives arrive as the current ID.4 approaches the end of its North American production story. Volkswagen ended production of the electric SUV at its Chattanooga, Tennessee, factory earlier this year.
The plant is shifting capacity toward the gas-powered Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport. Volkswagen has said a future version of the ID.4 is planned for North America, although the company hasn’t yet provided full details.
The existing ID.4 is still a competitive electric crossover. The 2025 model offers up to an EPA-estimated 291 miles of range in rear-wheel-drive form, with the Pro RWD carrying a starting MSRP of $45,095 before incentives.
A Big Discount If You Can Find One
Volkswagen’s $12,500 incentive doesn’t necessarily mean every buyer will find a heavily discounted ID.4 waiting nearby. The combination of leftover 2025 inventory, participating-dealer requirements, and regional availability means some searching may be necessary.
Still, the difference is difficult to ignore. A five-figure factory incentive can significantly change the value equation for an EV that was already updated for 2024 with more power, improved range, and a revised infotainment system.
We suggest you don’t spend too much time deciding whether $12,500 off sounds appealing, as it could make it harder to find one of the remaining 2025 ID.4s before somebody else does.
