A Florida woman wearing a Broward Sheriff’s Office ballistic vest was arrested after a stolen patrol vehicle was found abandoned along Interstate 95 in St. Lucie County, Florida.

St. Lucie County Sheriff’s deputies, Port St. Lucie police officers, and Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to the incident around 9:40 p.m. on Sept. 22 after they received information about the stolen patrol vehicle traveling north near Gatlin Boulevard.

Deputies found the vehicle abandoned on the Gatlin Boulevard off-ramp. Dillon was then spotted nearby wearing a ballistic vest with the Broward Sheriff’s Office logo on it.

The woman, identified as 42-year-old Shannon Marie Dillon of Fort Lauderdale, was taken into custody. Body camera footage released by the sheriff’s office showed deputies holding Dillon at gunpoint on the ramp while a K-9 stood by.

The Arrest

In the body camera footage, you can see multiple deputies with their guns out and pointing them at her while she is on the ground. A K-9 is also present, and deputies warned Dillon not to move, or she would be bitten.

After that, Dillon was taken into custody without further incident.

Authorities haven’t said how Dillon obtained a ballistic vest with the Broward logo or exactly how the patrol vehicle was stolen.

A Hefty Bond

Dillon was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail at 3:11 a.m. on Sept. 23, according to booking information.

She faces a slew of charges, including grand theft of law enforcement equipment from an authorized emergency vehicle, unlawful use of a police badge or vehicle, unlawful possession of four or fewer identification items, possession or use of drug paraphernalia, possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

The booking information lists a total bond of $107,500. A charge of resisting an officer without violence is also listed but carries no bond.

Holds Remain

There are also two holds from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office listed in Dillon’s booking information.

One is for grand theft of law enforcement equipment from an authorized emergency vehicle, and the other is for grand theft. The second charge carries a $2,500 bond, while the first has no bond amount listed.

The investigation remains ongoing, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. They are working with the Broward Sheriff’s Office as well and will release more information when it is appropriate to do so.

Dillon is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
