A Georgia woman says a night spent supporting her daughter’s DJ set ended when a performer reached down from the stage and hit her.
Shamika Boyd told 11Alive she was dancing near the stage at Londzell Performing Arts Theatre in Tucker when the encounter happened. Video aired by the station shows a man onstage reaching down and striking Boyd.
People at the event identified the performer to 11Alive as Atlanta artist Sky Whatley. Boyd said she had done nothing to threaten him and was left trying to understand why she had been hit.
Her daughter, Jada Boyd, was performing the DJ set that brought her to the venue. Boyd and her attorney now say they intend to pursue legal action over what happened.

Boyd said she had been enjoying herself before the strike. Afterward, she said, the performer made an obscene gesture toward her, cursed at her, and told her the show was “for the real men.”
Jada Boyd told 11Alive she did not realize her mother had been hit until after the incident. She said she wanted her mother to get justice and described the encounter as unnecessary.
What Comes Next
Attorney Shannin Render said they intend to hold those responsible accountable for costs connected to the incident, including medical expenses, transportation costs, and time Boyd may be unable to work during her recovery.
11Alive reporter Chase Houle said he attempted to contact Whatley through social media and an email address listed on Linktree. The station reported that Whatley’s Instagram account was private, his Facebook account appeared to have been deactivated and no response had been received by the time of the report.
Boyd and Render also told 11Alive they had filed a police report.
