A Florida repossession attempt took a dangerous turn when deputies say a homeowner confronted the driver with a pistol while two vehicles were being taken.

The driver was working around midnight Tuesday at a home in Lehigh Acres when Brandon Kolz came outside armed, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

“Do you want to die?” Kolz asked the driver, deputies said.

What followed did not end with the driver simply leaving the cars behind.

Kolz got into one of the vehicles while it was still on the tow truck and demanded that the driver put it down, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said the driver feared for his life and released the vehicle.

As the released vehicle was driven away, Kolz fired one round, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies later located Kolz and arrested him. They said a firearm was recovered from his vehicle.

Behind On Payments

The sheriff’s office said deputies later determined Kolz knew he was behind on his car payments when the repossession attempt occurred.

Kolz was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

A public booking index lists him under the name Brandon Michael Kolz with a Sept. 15 booking date.

The available booking listing does not establish a bond amount or release status, so those details are not included here.

All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
