A Chevrolet Camaro crashed through a backyard fence in Fort Worth on Sunday night, narrowly missing three young children gathered near a swimming pool.
The children — a 2-year-old girl and her 5-year-old twin brothers — escaped without being hit by either the car or pieces of the fence and concrete barrier sent flying during the crash, FOX 4 reported.
The Camaro struck the barrier along Heritage Trace Parkway before being knocked back toward the roadway. The homeowners were not injured.
Fort Worth police cited the driver for reckless driving. A passenger was taken to a hospital after the crash.

The crash happened around 7 p.m. Sunday in the 1500 block of Heritage Trace Parkway near Harmon Road.
Alex Gunter, who lives nearby, told WFAA she was in her backyard when she heard a car accelerating and could tell something was wrong.
A few houses away, the three children were near the family’s backyard pool.
Seconds later, the car crashed through the barrier.
FOX 4 reported that the Camaro struck a concrete pillar with enough force to send it back toward the roadway. Pieces of concrete and large rocks also flew into the yard without hitting the children.
The station identified the children as a 2-year-old girl and her 5-year-old twin brothers. Their parents told FOX 4 they were grateful their children were alive.
Back In The Road
Fort Worth police officers from the North Division responded to what was initially reported as a vehicle-versus-fence crash.
By the time officers arrived, the damaged car was in the roadway, WFAA reported.
Police cited the driver for reckless driving. FOX 4 reported that a passenger suffered a cut to the head and was taken to a hospital. WFAA reported the passenger’s condition was not immediately available.
No one in the homeowners’ family was injured.
Down The Block
For neighbors, the wreck sharpened concerns they say have been building along Heritage Trace Parkway.
Gunter told WFAA the roadway has increasingly felt like a “drag strip” and pointed to other crashes around the intersection.
Fort Worth City Councilmember Charlie Lauersdorf, who represents the area, viewed video of the damage and said the situation needs attention.
He told WFAA he plans to take residents’ concerns to the city’s transportation and public works department and request an assessment or traffic study of the stretch.
The homeowners separately told FOX 4 they want to advocate for measures such as speed bumps and tougher ordinances aimed at reckless drivers.
