Getting the chance to see Deputy Frank Sloup of the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook is always a treat. If you aren’t finishing the video laughing at how absurd the driver he stopped was being, then you at least walk away having learned something new; this video is both of those.

While his police vehicle is in the shop, Sloup has been rocking a Mustang that he’s been using to catch speeders all over the county. In this particular video, not only does he catch a speeder going a criminal speed of 93 in a 65 MPH zone, but she wasn’t wearing her seat belt, and she pulled over on the left side of the road.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Sloup video if there weren’t a few people he stopped, and the second driver’s reason for driving so fast is actually hilarious. Fortunately, both drivers were pretty civil to Sloup, which isn’t something we typically see in his videos.

Maybe it’s actually a good thing that his car is in the shop, so he has the opportunity to catch up to speeders a little more quickly and make sure everyone has a safe day.

One Traffic Stop Turns Into Three Different Lessons

The very first driver had three things going on: she was nearly 30 miles over the limit, pulled over onto the wrong side of the road, and wasn’t wearing her seatbelt correctly. Personally, I didn’t know you shouldn’t stop on the shoulder near the fast lane, but after Sloup explained it and why, it makes sense.

To limit the potential for incidents, pulling over to the right of the road when on the highway puts both you and the officer further away from the fast lane on the far left. Even though Deputy Sloup is on the opposite side of the car, away from the street, that doesn’t make it any safer.

As for the seatbelt, it turned out she was actually wearing one, but only had the lap strap fastened, not the shoulder strap. Sloup then explains why the shoulder strap exists and that she needs to have it placed correctly for it to be effective in the event of a collision.

Fortunately, it seems that the driver understood everything and didn’t argue with Sloup after he came back and gave her tickets for each of her offenses.

Her Reason for Speeding Gives Sloup the Perfect Response

The second driver was also a woman, and she can be seen weaving through traffic, occupying each lane at one point within just a few seconds. Her behavior was enough to trigger Sloup’s spider senses, and he pulled her over. Fortunately, it seems that she knew to pull over to the right side.

After explaining why he had stopped her, he asked why she was speeding in the first place. She then explained that she thought someone had been chasing her and that she was speeding in an effort to lose them.

This is when Deputy Sloup says, “If anyone was following you, it was me!” Similar to the first driver, she understood her list of offenses when Sloup returned to her vehicle with tickets and accepted them.

Before Sloup leaves, she tells him, “No, and to be clear, I just wanted to let you know, I wasn’t trying to be argumentative or excuse—” Which Sloup interrupts to tell her that she has nothing to worry about.

She then bids him farewell by saying, “I’m so glad, and I hope you have a safe day. I know how dangerous this can be, so I hope it is a safe one.”
