A few minutes can make quite a difference when the parking spot you just left turns into part of a crash scene.
Sandi Alashkar had parked her car on East Second Street in Brooklyn and gone inside. About 10 minutes later, she heard what she described to CBS News New York as a huge boom.
Then came more impacts.
By the time it was over Tuesday evening, police said 13 parked vehicles had been damaged along the Gravesend street. None of them were occupied.

The crashes happened just before 7 p.m. on East Second Street between Avenue P and Quentin Road, according to News 12.
Residents were left with damaged vehicles, scattered debris and car parts along the street.
Michael Coluccio told CBS News New York that he heard a succession of crashes.
“It was like a bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, repeated,” he said.
Alashkar found damage to the front bumper of the car she had parked shortly before the crashes. She had also crossed the street shortly before everything happened and told the station that her bigger concern was how easily somebody could have been outside when the cars were hit.
No injuries were reported.
Two Teens
Police identified the driver only as a 17-year-old boy and said he did not have a driver’s license.
After hitting the 13 parked cars, the teen fled, according to police. A 16-year-old passenger was with him.
Both teenagers were taken into custody.
News 12 reported Wednesday morning that neither had yet been formally charged. By later that night, police had provided CBS News New York with an update on the driver.
The Summons
The 17-year-old was issued summonses for driving without a license and leaving the scene, police told CBS News New York.
Police did not identify either teenager in the reports reviewed by Guessing Headlights.
