A BMW was carjacked in Washington by three juveniles who were armed. They would eventually abandon the vehicle in the middle of a road and try to run away on foot. It didn’t go the way they wanted it to.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy spotted a white BMW SUV traveling southbound on Pacific Avenue South around 7:30 a.m. on August 29, cutting through traffic at high speeds alongside a dark-colored vehicle. It’s not clear whether they were racing the other car.

Around the same time, dispatch alerted deputies that a white BMW matching that description may be connected to several car prowls involving firearms and juveniles. They were also notified that a BMW SUV had recently been stolen at gunpoint in Tacoma as part of an overnight crime spree.

Based on that information, the deputy had reasonable suspicion the BMW was tied to the reported crimes and initiated a pursuit.

The Chase Hit 100 MPH Before Losing Two Tires

The BMW continued south on Pacific Avenue at speeds exceeding 100 mph, according to the sheriff’s office, putting other drivers and the public at serious risk. At one point during the pursuit, the vehicle swerved into a ditch before recovering, ultimately losing two tires in the process.

The disabled car eventually came to a stop, and all three occupants fled on foot. Deputies quickly located and took each of them into custody.

Two Firearms Were Found in the Vehicle

The BMW was left running and abandoned in the roadway after the boys tried to run on foot. Deputies searched the vehicle and found two firearms visible inside, one on the driver’s side and another on the passenger’s side.

The driver was identified as a 14-year-old boy, with passengers ages 14 and 16. All three were booked into Remann Hall, the county’s juvenile detention facility.

People Wanted To See More Accountability

People were amazed at just how far these juveniles went. Several commenters argued that parents should be held accountable for what their children were doing, while another compared the incident to reckless driving in a video game, stating that the boys think this is all a game.

Other people expressed their views on how the law should treat juveniles who do things like this. Many were calling for the teens to be charged as adults, with one specifically hoping for a sentence of at least five years given the circumstances of the chase.
