There are plenty of videos out there that involve less-than-ideal interactions with police officers, but I found a video that might change your mind on how some operate. Not only did this cop realize that they were wrong, but they acknowledged it, apologized, and went on with their day.

A few guys were driving in a BMW M54 when they suddenly got pulled over. What happens next doesn’t usually happen during traffic stops, which is likely why the officer was so nice about it.

Not only that, but the video shows that people can work together with an officer to both help themselves and help make the roads a little safer. Best of all, they were able to do it before the restaurant they were going to closed for the night.

There’s probably no better feeling than being able to prove to a cop you were right about something, get released from the traffic stop, and still make it in time for dinner.

Everybody Makes Mistakes

Please give the following video a moment to load up completely.

The TikTok video starts with a police officer pulling over a BMW M54 with two people inside. When the officer approaches the driver’s window and explains why he pulled them over, it doesn’t make sense.

The officer said they had been going 86 mph in a 55 mph zone, but when the officer returned to his vehicle to obtain the driver’s information, the two started talking. They started to think that maybe the officer was confused with a different BMW that had driven past them.

That’s when the passenger got out of the car to let the officer know. What’s even better is that they had the incident that the officer was actually looking for on camera and were able to show it to him.

After realizing he was wrong, he apologized to the two guys and immediately thanked them for being understanding about the mixup.

That Cop Is One Of a Kind

Commenters were overwhelmingly impressed that the officer appeared willing to admit he’d made a mistake rather than doubling down on the traffic stop. One person called him a “cool” cop who “didn’t run on ego,” while another said you’ve “gotta love when they can own up to a mistake.”

The dash cam received plenty of credit, too. One commenter joked that it “came in with the assist,” while others pointed out that the interaction might have ended very differently without video apparently supporting the driver’s side of the story. As one person put it, admitting a mistake should really be the norm rather than something drivers are surprised to see.

There was one part of the interaction that had people considerably more nervous, though: the driver apparently getting out of the car during the stop. “Getting out of the car mid-stop is insane,” one commenter wrote, while another simply warned, “Don’t leave the car.”
