An LAPD pursuit through South Los Angeles ended with a car leaving the ground, crashing into five other vehicles and leaving one of the involved cars with significant roof damage.
The crash happened in the Green Meadows neighborhood in Los Angeles shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday. Video from the scene shows the suspect vehicle becoming airborne during the pursuit before coming down amid traffic and parked vehicles.
The incident was reported by KTLA, which described it as a violent crash involving a pursuit suspect. KTLA’s social media post also shared a video of the incident.
The crash left several vehicles with severe damage, including one that appeared to have its roof torn open by the impact.

The Car Apparently Ran Out of Road
The car in question was a Toyota Corolla. At some point during the pursuit, the driver of the vehicle missed a curve, sending the vehicle flying in the air and crashing into other cars.
The resulting crash was violent enough to damage multiple vehicles. One car’s roof was completely torn off as a result of the crash.
Green Meadows Has Seen Its Share of Pursuits
Green Meadows is a neighborhood in South Los Angeles, an area where police pursuits have previously moved through residential streets. This makes it a neighborhood almost living on the edge.
In 2023, Fox 11 reported a pursuit involving an attempted-murder suspect who traveled through several South Los Angeles neighborhoods, including Green Meadows. That chase lasted roughly two hours, crossed multiple communities, and ended with three people taken into custody.
That earlier pursuit involved a suspect switching vehicles after crashing into an Audi, continuing to flee with a damaged vehicle, and eventually abandoning the second vehicle.

The Comments Had Their Own Views
The crash understandably got some traction online, with several people reacting to it. KTLA’s Instagram post of the incident had some commenters comparing this crash to the likes of the video game franchise Grand Theft Auto.
A few commenters were more concerned with what happened to the driver after the airborne crash, asking whether the suspect had died. Others said they would have been terrified to wake up and find a vehicle flying through the area.
The Pursuit Ended With an Arrest
The suspect survived the crash and was taken into custody, according to KTLA. No fatalities were reported.
This pursuit goes to show the severity and risk that comes with it. Several damaged vehicles and a reminder that a police pursuit can turn an ordinary South Los Angeles street into a major car wreck you would only see in the likes of a video game.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
