A high-speed police pursuit in the United Kingdom ended with the arrest of a 17-year-old driver after a stolen Audi S5 was chased at speeds of up to 140 mph. Despite the coupe’s naturally aspirated V8 engine, police managed to stay close throughout the pursuit before bringing it to a safe conclusion.
The dramatic chase unfolded on June 29 after officers received reports of a stolen Audi S5 being driven at dangerous speeds. Dashcam footage released by police captures the pursuit as it winds through local roads and towns with multiple patrol vehicles in pursuit.
During the chase, the Audi even rammed a police SUV in an attempt to escape. Although the impact allowed the driver to continue briefly, the damaged coupe was ultimately unable to shake the pursuing officers.
The pursuit ended with police boxing in the Audi and arresting both occupants. Officers later discovered several sets of vehicle keys inside the stolen coupe, leading investigators to suspect the car had been linked to additional thefts.
Police Stayed With The Audi Throughout The Chase
According to police, the stolen black Audi S5 was first spotted speeding through a large roundabout before officers moved in to stop it. Instead of pulling over, the teenage driver accelerated away, triggering a lengthy pursuit.
Police deployed two BMW 3 Series Touring patrol cars along with a BMW X5 to keep pace with the Audi. Even with the S5’s 4.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 producing around 354 horsepower, officers remained close behind as speeds climbed to approximately 140 mph.
The chase continued through several towns and local roads, creating a dangerous situation for everyone nearby. Despite the Audi’s performance advantage on paper, coordinated police tactics prevented the driver from opening a real gap.
Audi Rammed A Police SUV

At one point during the pursuit, officers attempted to stop the Audi by positioning an Audi Q7 police vehicle ahead of it. The maneuver was designed to slow the fleeing car and bring the chase to an end.
Instead of stopping, the S5 struck the rear of the police SUV before continuing down the road. The impact damaged the front-right corner of the coupe, with smoke visible coming from the vehicle as it continued the escape attempt.
Although the collision briefly allowed the teenager to get away, the damaged Audi was unable to maintain its advantage. Police quickly regrouped and continued pursuing the car.
Pursuit Ended With Multiple Arrests

The chase finally came to an end after officers boxed the Audi in and prevented it from escaping. Police then smashed the side windows and removed both the driver and passenger from the vehicle before taking them into custody.
A search of the stolen S5 reportedly uncovered keys belonging to at least five other vehicles, including two Audis, a BMW, a Mercedes-Benz, and a Ford. Several of the keyrings also included house keys, leading investigators to believe they may have been connected to other thefts.
Teen Driver Awaits Sentencing
Police confirmed the 17-year-old driver has pleaded guilty to multiple offenses, including dangerous driving and burglary. Sentencing is scheduled for October, when the court will determine the penalties stemming from the pursuit.
The case serves as another reminder that fleeing police rarely ends successfully, regardless of how powerful the vehicle may be. Coordinated police tactics, multiple patrol units, and persistence ultimately proved too much for the stolen Audi S5.
What do you think about this pursuit? Should penalties be harsher for drivers who flee police at extreme speeds in stolen vehicles, or are current laws already strict enough? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
