An illegal sideshow in California, the latest of a string of tiring gatherings, has left a local neighborhood in shambles, both physically and emotionally. During this latest dangerous display of car stunts, one individual even shot a firework straight at a responding police officer, leading to an explosive result.
As reported by Fox 2, the incident occurred on Sunday, July 2. At around 2 a.m., the streets of Vallejo near Columbus Parkway and Georgia Street were swarmed by a multitude of individuals who witnessed and participated in the sideshow.
Video footage shared by the outlet shows multiple cars performing donuts on the street, one after the other. Bystanders watched in awe as they grabbed their phones and started recording the dangerous stunts happening just feet away.
Multiple vehicle occupants can be seen hanging from the windows, and some even popped up from the roof of the cars. This, of course, didn’t sit well with local neighbors, who have been victims of multiple of this illegal “shows.” As a result, the police were called.
Firework Meets Cruiser
Footage shows two different cruisers at the scene, ready to break up, or at least try to disperse, the ongoing sideshow. The two police vehicles, stopped on their tracks, witness how a white sedan drives through them, leaving the area.
However, a small flame can be seen to the right of the left patrol car. Right after the white sedan passes through the cruisers, the flame explodes. It was a lit-up firework, which added to the madness of the ongoing situation in Vallejo.
The footage doesn’t show who exactly threw the firework at the police vehicle. One of the cruisers, however, can then be seen pursuing a vehicle, reportedly leaving the scene.
House Vandalized
The very next morning, many neighbors woke up to find their houses vandalized and trashed. One of them, Laquisha Knapps, told FOX 2 that some individuals ruined her yard and even climbed onto her home’s roof.
“You’re very disrespectful, and I desire you find a different place to have your activities. You’re disturbing the peace, you’re disturbing the neighborhood, my sleep,” Laquisha said.
Not only that, but her home had been graffited as a result of the sideshow. She is “fed up,” and now demands that these sorts of activities stop or at least relocate to another area, as this is far from the first time she has had her house vandalized by sideshow attendees.
Living in Fear
Meanwhile, Nicole Natividad fears for her family’s safety. The late-night sideshow woke them up suddently, and terrified, she managed to call 911. Unfortunately for her and the rest of the neighbors, police officers did show up, but a tad bit late.
“We’re scared because what if these people come into our houses or something, or what if they’re shooting their guns, or what if a car crashes into someone’s house?” Nicole added. “We fear that every single time.”
Laquisha agrees with Nicole, saying that these incidents don’t always limit themselves to fireworks, but also gunshots. Hopefully, the car stunt gatherings will subside in the near future so they can have a well-deserved good night’s sleep.
