Roller coaster fans have only a few days left to visit a popular Georgia theme park. Fun Spot America Atlanta will permanently close after nearly four decades of entertaining families.
The park’s final operating day will be Sunday, Aug. 2. It will remain open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Fun Spot America announced the closure on June 25 but did not provide a reason for the decision. CEO John Arie Jr. described it as “an extremely difficult decision” in a company statement, according to Amusement Today.
The Fayetteville park first opened as Dixieland Fun Park in 1990 and later became Fun Junction USA. Fun Spot America acquired the property in 2017 and added several new attractions.
Fans Are Traveling for One Last Ride

Many of the final visitors are coming to ride ArieForce One, the park’s highly rated roller coaster. The attraction opened in March 2023 following a reported $18 million investment.
ArieForce One carries riders up a 154-foot lift hill before sending them down an 83-degree first drop. The coaster reaches 64 mph, includes four inversions and travels across more than 3,400 feet of track.
Fans have traveled from across the United States and other countries to experience it before the park closes. One family came from Houston specifically for a final ride.
“That’s why we made an emergency trip out here to say goodbye to one of our favorite roller coasters,” Courtney Ray told CBS News.
The future of ArieForce One remains uncertain. Fun Spot America has not announced whether the coaster will be sold, relocated, or dismantled after the park closes.
Fun Spot’s Florida Parks Will Remain Open
Season passes and gift cards can be used at the Atlanta park through Aug. 2. After the closure, they will continue to be accepted at Fun Spot America’s parks in Orlando and Kissimmee, Florida.
The company said it will work with Atlanta employees during the transition and provide support resources. Neither Florida location will be affected by the closure.
“We are proud of the memories created in Atlanta and grateful to everyone who has been part of this chapter of our story,” Arie said in the closing announcement, according to Amusement Today.
