There are plenty of ways a police pursuit can come to an end. Running out of gas, getting boxed in by patrol cars, or deciding it’s finally time to give up are all fairly common. Continuing to flee after multiple PIT maneuvers? That’s a little less common.

According to the Sandy Springs Police Department, officers helped bring a high-speed pursuit to an end after a suspect refused to stop despite several attempts to disable the fleeing vehicle. Even after multiple PIT maneuvers, police say the driver wasn’t ready to surrender.

The pursuit entered Sandy Springs from neighboring jurisdictions on June 22, 2026. Police identified the driver as Jared Juwann Pierce, who allegedly reached speeds of more than 110 mph while fleeing from law enforcement.

According to authorities, Pierce repeatedly refused to stop and endangered other motorists as the pursuit continued through the area.

One PIT Wasn’t Enough… Neither Were the Next Three

To safely end the pursuit, Sandy Springs officers deployed multiple PIT maneuvers, a tactic designed to rotate a fleeing vehicle and bring it to a controlled stop. Police say the first maneuver wasn’t enough.

Nor was the second.

Or even the third.

Despite multiple successful PIT attempts, Pierce continued driving before eventually abandoning the vehicle altogether and attempting to escape on foot. Fortunately, his run didn’t last much longer as officers pursued him on foot and took him into custody after a brief chase.

Following his arrest, Pierce was charged with felony fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, false imprisonment, reckless driving, driving while his license was suspended, obstruction of law enforcement, and numerous additional traffic-related offenses.

Commenters Think the Pursuing Officer Earned a Raise

The pursuit quickly drew thousands of reactions, with many viewers praising the officers for ending the chase without any reported injuries to the public. One of the most-liked comments simply read, “Give this cop a raise! Incredible PIT!” Others described the officers’ driving as “outstanding,” saying the pursuit appeared to be handled with strong situational awareness while keeping other motorists safe.

Several people imagined that the pursuing officer had just experienced the most exciting day of their career, with one viewer joking that the job involved “getting paid to legally crash into criminals.” Others couldn’t help but notice how light traffic was during the chase, with one commenter saying they were almost more surprised by the empty highway than the pursuit itself.

Not every comment stayed focused on the incident itself, however. Some replies veered into speculation about the suspect or included derogatory stereotypes rather than discussing the facts shown in the video. Those comments sparked their own back-and-forth, but the overall conversation centered on the officers’ handling of the pursuit and the fact that it ended without injuries to bystanders.
