Physical limitations don’t always define what a person can achieve. With enough determination, courage, and perseverance, people can push past challenges that once seemed impossible.
Melissa Baars is one such woman. She has not let her partial paralysis stop her from doing something that may seem simple to many people, but, for her, requires tremendous strength and determination.
A video of Baars climbing onto a tractor has since gone viral on social media, showcasing her remarkable upper-body strength and the determination she brings to overcoming everyday challenges.
The footage shows that Baars has control of her head, neck, shoulders, and hands, while the lower half of her body is paralyzed. Being unable to walk means she relies on a wheelchair for mobility.
From a Wheelchair to the Seat of a Tractor

The video caption on X suggests Baars is a C5 incomplete tetraplegic. She can be seen transferring from her wheelchair to the tractor’s first step with apparent ease.
She then lifted her legs using her hands and placed them on the wheelchair’s seat while aligning herself with the steps. Then, she used her upper-body strength to climb one step at a time with her back facing them.
After climbing each step, she lifted her legs with her hands and placed them on the step below before climbing the next one.
When she reached the top step, she demonstrated that she could move her left leg by straightening it, although it visibly shook as she did so.
The most challenging part came after she made it into the tractor’s cab, where she used her hips to slide backward and position herself before the driver’s seat.
Then, using her shoulders, elbows, back, and hips, Baars climbed and slid onto the seat while facing the windshield. The person recording shouted in excitement, while Baars’s expression also suggested she was happy with the achievement.
The video ends there, so it is not known whether Baars drove the tractor afterward or climbed into the cab as a demonstration of what she is capable of.
