Where I am in Boston, Massachusetts, we’ve had a heat advisory warning residents about the dangers of prolonged sun exposure for the last couple of days. It’s pretty easy to tell why from the moment you stick your head out the door.
However, according to this person, it was hot enough outside to be able to cook hot dogs on his car antenna. Honestly, that’s probably the best thing to do during a heatwave.
The video was posted to TikTok by food influencer and chef @officialdrewcooks, who is actually well known for making some pretty delicious meals. In fact, the most recent set of videos he posted had to do with meals you can make for the Fourth of July.
While the video is definitely a hilarious way to deal with the heat, it’s also a reminder of just how real the dangers of the sun are. Make sure you’re putting on sunscreen and hydrating out there, folks!

The video starts off with @officialdrewcooks in his car driving away from an unknown location with the camera trained on his car’s antenna. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see that he skewered four hot dogs onto it, directly in the sunlight.
To justify this, he says, “When it’s as hot as an air fryer outside, you don’t even need to wait until you get home to cook your hot dogs. They’ll be ready to eat by the time you get there.”
What’s really funny is that the other drivers going by don’t seem to notice the interesting antenna that their neighbor has. He then follows his statement up with, “Oh man, I should have put the buns on them to toast them.”
TikTok Couldn’t Decide if This Was Genius or Gross
Commenters found the situation pretty funny, with Walmart itself jokingly commenting, “Did you do this in the parking lot?” Toyota also commented with a line from Legally Blonde, writing, “Makes us want a hot dog real bad.”
Others made their jokes about the potential for bugs in the hot dogs, writing, “Mmm bugs and road grime.” Similarly, another person wrote, “With a few bugs as well.”
I’d like to think that he didn’t actually eat the hot dogs after skewering them into the antenna, but judging by some of his videos on hot dogs, he very well might have.
