In a freak accident coming straight from the Himalayan roads of India, a black Mahindra Scorpio SUV traveling at high speed crashed into the barrier on a highway and fell straight onto exposed rebar (reinforcing bar) at a construction site.
For many, this could be a scene straight out of the Final Destination film series, given the horrific nature of the incident that reportedly killed one tourist and left three others injured.
The incident highlights the need to remain extra cautious while navigating mountainous regions and to keep one’s speed in check, especially when exiting tunnels.
This particular incident occurred right at the point where the Atal Tunnel ends. The road turns right abruptly, and chances are the driver sped down the tunnel at high speed, making it difficult for him to control the vehicle at the last moment.
SUV Remains Stuck on Exposed Rebar

Footage of the aftermath has gone viral, showing the rebar supporting the SUV and preventing it from falling into the Chandra River below.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, the incident took place on Tuesday night at around 10 p.m. when the tourists were traveling from Manali to Lahaul.
The SUV reportedly exited the Atal Tunnel’s north portal, veering off the road and heading straight into the construction zone where exposed rebar was left protruding.
Navigating the Himalayan roads at night can be even more challenging, and there is a high chance that the driver of the SUV failed to negotiate the sharp turn after exiting the tunnel.
The SUV then struck the barrier before crashing into the under-construction bridge, where it became lodged in exposed rebar. The three injured passengers are receiving treatment.
Following the incident, the authorities have cautioned tourists against speeding in the hills and traveling at night during the rainy season, when visibility is reduced.

The bigger question: How fast was the Scorpio going to crash that far away? pic.twitter.com/nXBxMraJCi
