A Southampton, New York, woman was arrested Tuesday after police said she stood near a roadway with a shotgun and yelled at passing vehicles. Southampton Town police said officers responded to the area of North Sea Mecox Road near Majors Path at about 6:51 p.m. The call came in as a report of a woman near the roadway holding a shotgun.
Police identified the woman as Lynn D. Blydenburgh, 67. Officers on the scene found that Blydenburgh had allegedly yelled at a passing motorist who was stopped in traffic. Police added that she had then pointed a shotgun at a female victim.
Blydenburgh was arrested at the scene before being taken to Southampton Town police headquarters for processing. Police didn’t offer additional information on anything else Blydenburgh may have done while out and about on the roads. They also didn’t note whether anyone had actually been injured or not.
Blydenburgh was held overnight, then taken for arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court. There wasn’t any indication whether anyone was injured during the incident or as a result of Blydenburgh’s actions. There weren’t any details about what led to the confrontation originally, either.

According to Southampton Town Police, officers were called to North Sea Mecox Road to investigate after receiving a report about a woman standing near the road with a shotgun. It also said the woman was yelling at vehicles passing through the area. Police found reason to proceed with an arrest while at the scene.
The department said Blydenburgh had allegedly yelled at a motorist who was stopped in traffic. Police said she then pointed the shotgun at a female victim. The department did not say whether the female victim was the driver, a passenger, or someone else nearby.
