A small kitten that had become trapped between the brick wall and the roof of a North Carolina car wash was rescued unhurt by local firefighters last weekend. The kitten could not get out on its own. Someone passing through the car wash noticed the animal and called for help.
The Waxhaw Fire Department was dispatched to the car wash on Saturday, May 29. Firefighters arrived, assessed the situation, and then worked their way into the space where the kitten had become wedged. They got it out safely.
The kitten was frightened but had not been physically injured, according to the department. Firefighters then searched the area around the car wash for any other kittens that might have been nearby. They did not find any.
The animal was handed over to the person who had originally called for help. The kitten was given the name Smokey. Smokey is now reported to be healthy and headed to a loving home.
