A man in Eddystone, Pennsylvania, is facing multiple charges after allegedly leading local police on a chase while driving under the influence. He is accused of stealing the vehicle from his ex-girlfriend one day before the chase.

As reported by the Delco Times, citing an Eddystone Police Department (EPD) probable cause affidavit, the investigation began on Monday, May 25. At around 3:05 p.m., EPD officers responded to an East 11th Street residence after receiving a domestic situation call.

Upon arrival, EPD officers encountered a woman, who identified as the ex-girlfriend of 38-year-old Rozano Alf White-Watson. She accused him of stealing her vehicle the day before, detailing what had occurred to the responding law enforcement agents.

According to her, White-Watson had left with her Nissan Quest, saying he was going to get gas. He, instead, as per the affidavit, went to a local bar in Media.

Vehicle Tracked, Things Gathered

The woman told the officers that she had repeatedly texted and called White-Watson before their arrival. The affidavit detailed that she was able to track the vehicle’s location.

The man, despite what the tracker said, insisted he was getting gas. Meanwhile, the woman began gathering his belongings, placing them on her front porch. Among these was a firearm.

At one point during the conversation, the woman told the officers that White Watson was nearby. Then, one officer saw White-Watson approaching the address.

Chase Begins

The officer instructed the 38-year-old man to pull over. He, however, allegedly accelerated and drove off onto Eddystone Avenue.

White-Watson proceeded to drive past multiple stop signs, the affidavit said. The pursuit got cut short, however, as he reportedly struck a curb.

After White-Watson was taken into custody, the officer noticed that he allegedly had bloodshot, glossy eyes and smelled like alcohol. Furthermore, a firearm was recovered, and authorities later found that it had been reported stolen from Colorado.

Suspect Arrested and Charged

Rozano Alf White-Watson is facing multiple charges. These include receiving stolen property, driving under the influence, unauthorized use of motor vehicles, fleeing police, and summary traffic offenses.

If convicted of the fleeing police charge, he could face up to two years in prison. However, since the DUI charge is an aggravating factor, he could receive a sentence of up to 7 years behind bars.

During his arraignment, White-Watson’s bail was set at 10% of $60,000. He has been remanded to a county jail in Concord after failing to post bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 22.
