Lamborghini recently teased a new, ultra-aggressive version of the Urus SUV, which was slated for a debut on July 1st 2026. However, mere hours before the car made its official debut, the new Urus SE Performante was leaked, which no doubt will have dismayed Lamborghini officials.
However, the dismay shouldn’t last too long. Because what Lamborghini has revealed is every bit as impressive as you would expect, with it taking the powertrain from the standard version of the Urus SE, but packing more power and lightening the weight of the car.
The Urus has been a very popular addition to the Lamborghini range. It first appeared back in 2017, having initially been shown off as a concept at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show. The SE was for a while the fastest production SUV in the world, and the model continues to go from strength to strength.
This latest version of the SUV features a few headline changes. The biggest of those is the increase in power over the standard Urus SE, but the Raging Bull has also given the car new carbon fiber components, as it has looked to shed as much weight as possible.
The New Urus SE Performante Has Even More Power
Under the hood of the new Urus SE Performante, the SUV packs in the same 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged plug-in hybrid engine that the standard Urus SE has. The difference here is that the Italian manufacturer has a little more power out of the engine. It now makes 800hp and 738lb-ft of torque, 11hp and 37lb-ft of torque more than the regular version.
It is, of course, still lightning fast. The 0- 62 mph time of the car is just 3.3 seconds, and the top speed is still a dizzying 194mph. It has now taken over from the standard Urus SE as the fastest production SUV in the world, and of course the fastest Urus ever. Even an early leak won’t make Lamborghini any less proud to have pushed the performance envelope further with one of its best products.
Along with the extra power, the Urus SE Performante has an eight-speed automatic transmission, naturally sending power to all four wheels. The SE Performante also has a 25.9kWh battery pack, which does allow it to travel on EV power only. But its range is limited to just 37 miles, so it will only be good for short trips to the shops or to work. Still, it will help to cut emissions on those shorter journeys.
What Else Has Lamborghini Changed With the New Urus?
There are plenty of other changes to the SUV away from the engine side. New carbon fibre components have helped to reduce the weight. The hood, roof, and side skirts are now all made of carbon fibre, and there is also a new, lighter Akrapovic exhaust system. In total, the Raging Bull has taken 70lbs off the overall weight of the Lamborghini. It isn’t a huge amount, but it will still add up to the overall performance.
A new bespoke body kit is another highlight. This helps to cut drag and improve the car’s overall downforce. A new sporty front bumper, hood nostrils, and a redesigned rear bumper and diffuser are some highlights. The car also has a new carbon fiber gurney flap and a new roof spoiler. Drag is reduced by three percent, with downforce increased by 23 percent.
Lamborghini Has Also Reworked the Suspension
Finally, the air suspension in the Urus SE Performante has also had a few tweaks. This, say the manufacturer, will lead to lower vibrations, less roll, and new, sharper, and more agile handling in the corners. Pricing is still a mystery, but the standard Urus SE starts at around $252,000. So expect to see a slight increase in that price with this new, improved model.
