Two Men Arrested After Drunk Driver Plows a Dodge Challenger Into a Fire Hydrant in a Spring Neighborhood

A quiet Spring, Texas neighborhood got an unexpected water feature last week, courtesy of two men and a very unhappy Dodge Challenger.

According to Harris County Precinct Four deputy constables, the pair drove the muscle car onto a residential street near Lynngate before the driver managed to introduce the vehicle to a fire hydrant sitting in someone’s front yard. Because nothing says “I’m having a normal one” like launching a performance car into neighborhood infrastructure.

After the crash, both men apparently decided the best course of action was to sprint away from the scene, leaving the Challenger behind to contemplate its poor life choices as water gushed all over the front yard. To be fair to the Challenger, it never asked for any of this.

Deputies were not exactly stumped by the situation. They caught up with the driver, who was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The passenger, perhaps hoping the warrant out for his arrest would somehow not come up during a police interaction, was also taken into custody. It came up.

A work crew arrived to shut off the hydrant and restore some dignity to the neighborhood, though the front yard in question will likely need a moment.

Wrote the Harris County Constable for Precinct 4 on Facebook: The scene has been stabilized, and the water line has been secured. Excellent work by deputies for their quick response and efforts in safely resolving the situation.

That’s going on the Carfax!” joked one comment on Facebook.

Added another: “You can’t park here!”

For car enthusiasts, it is worth noting that the Dodge Challenger was originally built to be a street machine. Deputies would like to clarify that the street does not include front lawns or fire hydrants.

The Hemi stays on the track, folks.
