There are plenty of examples on social media of babies being drawn to vehicles and the driver’s seat, especially in posts shared by car enthusiast dads who believe in starting them young.
Now though, footage has gone viral on social media, showing a bear cub hesitating to get off the driver’s seat of a pickup truck even after the scared owner left both doors open for it.
It is not known how long the cub remained inside, but regardless of the duration, it seemed like it did not want to get out, either because it liked the pickup too much or it was afraid of facing the owner who stood outside.
As for the owner, he was afraid for his life after finding a bear inside his truck.
Man Ends Up Chasing Bear Cub With a Plank
As reported by People, Andy Kerrigan was walking near a residential building on Clubhouse Drive in Steamboat Springs towards his parked truck. Surveillance footage captured by Justin E. Pickar shows Kerrigan opening the passenger-side door, only to be startled by a bear cub sitting contentedly in the driver’s seat.
That alerted the cub, which then moved to the front passenger seat. Despite attempts to get the cub out of the car by tapping on the side panel, Kerrigan was unsuccessful.
Then, Kerrigan went back to the driver’s side, but the cub got too close through the window, prompting Kerrigan to back off quickly and fall.
Kerrigan wasn’t giving up, though. He managed to open the driver-side door, but the bear cub wouldn’t get out. Kerrigan then went to the back of his truck and got a wooden plank to scare it in the hope that it would get out.
Although he showed the cub the plank, it still would not get out until he nudged it gently with the plank. That prompted the cub to escape. Kerrigan then chased it around the vehicle and ensured it moved away.

It is not known when and how the bear cub got into the pickup truck in the first place. It is likely that a door may have been left open by Kerrigan, which prompted the bear to get inside.
Ford Uses a Kodiak Bear to Test the F-150’s Security Package
In other recent news involving a bear, Guessing Headlights reported how Ford unleashed a Kodiak bear on its F-150 pickup truck to test its new connected security package.
The bear, named Tag, actually highlighted how the system works in the real world, and showed how easily it could shake that heavy 5,000-pound F-150 like it was child’s play.
Tag is an animal actor and has featured in several commercials and the TV series Yellowstone. Ford hired Tag and his trainer, Keith Bauer, for the real-world test at a ranch located in the Oregon woods where the bear lives.
Tag’s job was rather simple when compared to a human vehicle tester who ends up assessing so many parameters and making notes about them. All that the bear had to do was bash the truck parked in the woods.
Bauer ordered Tag to scratch, shake, and bash the F-150 as part of the test, tasks that came naturally to him. Bauer said:
“Bears love to destroy things. They like to break things. I was really happy with the way Tag did the things they wanted him to do.”
