About the Role

We’re looking for freelance writers who can cover automotive news and trending topics with clarity, personality, and insight. This role is ideal for writers who follow the industry closely and understand what’s gaining traction across social platforms and enthusiast communities.

You should be comfortable breaking down complex topics, whether it’s pricing trends, policy changes, reliability debates, or new vehicle launches, into content that’s engaging and easy to understand.

This is a remote freelance position with consistent weekly work available for reliable contributors.

Responsibilities

  • Write automotive news, trend pieces, and analysis articles
  • Monitor trending automotive topics across platforms such as TikTok, Reddit, X, Instagram, and enthusiast forums
  • Pitch timely story ideas based on emerging trends and conversations
  • Break down complex automotive or industry topics in a clear, reader-friendly way
  • Maintain a balanced, non-partisan tone when covering policy, regulations, or industry controversies
  • Craft engaging headlines and introductions that capture readers’ interest
  • Conduct research and fact-checking to ensure accuracy

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of the U.S. automotive industry (manufacturers, trucks, pricing trends, enthusiast culture, reliability debates, etc.)
  • Ability to identify and explain trending automotive topics
  • Writing style that is engaging, witty, and conversational when appropriate
  • Ability to explain technical or industry topics in plain English
  • Awareness of social media trends and online car culture
  • Reliable communication and ability to meet deadlines
  • Published writing samples (automotive preferred)

Note: Applicants do not need to be located in the United States, but familiarity with the U.S. auto market is important.

Bonus Skills (Not Required)

  • Experience writing for digital media or high-traffic websites
  • Familiarity with SEO and headline writing
  • Knowledge of automotive history or enthusiast communities
  • Experience covering viral or social-driven stories
