A couple in Union County, North Carolina, were inside their home when, all of a sudden, a vehicle burst through their residence, barely missing them by only a few feet. The driver has been arrested and charged, as he was driving with a revoked license and also fled the scene shortly after the crash, police said.
According to a news release issued by the Union County Sheriff’s Office (UCSO), the incident occurred during the last weekend of June 2026. UCSO deputies responded to a residence located near the 4400 block of Plyler Mill Road.
Upon arrival, deputies encountered a chaotic scene. A GMC Yukon had left the runway and crashed into the home.
Residents then made contact with the homeowners. Miraculously, they were left unscathed following the very serious and potentially fatal crash.
Narrowly Avoided Catastrophe
The homeowners were inside their residence at the time of the crash. As per the UCSO, they were sitting inside “just a few feet” from where the vehicle fully entered the building.
Deputies, while relieved that the couple, who users identified as Angie and Bruce, were not hurt, continued to investigate the incident. According to the sheriff’s office, the occupants of the GMC had fled from the scene shortly after the crash.
Later, the police identified the male driver and the female passenger who were inside the car that crashed through the residence: Gustavo Sanchez and Naesha Baucom.
Suspect Arrested
Hours after the incident, UCSO deputies came across Sanchez. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Union County Detention Center.
He is charged with felony hit-and-run (personal injury) and driving while license revoked (impaired revocation). If convicted of the hit-and-run charge, he could spend up to 25 months behind bars.
Sanchez received a $50,000 secured bond. Since then, he has met the conditions of his release, the UCSO said. Meanwhile, the sheriff’s office has not announced whether Baucom has been found or arrested.

As attached above, the UCSO shared two photos of the crash aftermath. Many users, most of them Union County residents, reacted to seeing the car fully inside the residence.
“Oh my. He didn’t slow down none… Went right on up in that home,” one user said. Another one added, “What in the world is going on in Union County lately?! Good god.”
Others were glad that Angie and Bruce were safe and sound. Some even reminisced about sharing Christmases inside the home, which, as a friend of the family said, looked as if it had been hit by a tornado.
